Nicolas Bürer

Nicolas Bürer studied physics at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). After gaining experience in management consulting and start-ups, he has been a "serial entrepreneur and investor" for many years, among others with Movu and Yamo. Since October 2016 he has been Managing Director of the cross-industry initiative digitalswitzerland. In 2018 and 2019, he was honored in the "Who's Who" of the Swiss economy and, as a passionate investor in Swiss startups, was named Business Angel of the year 2018 by the Swiss Association for Corporate Finance SECA.

Jean-Pierre Vuilleumier

Managing Director of Startup INVEST

After his Master Degree in Finance at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) he became Professor for Finance at the University of Applied Sciences in Bern (for 10 years). From 2000-2002 he was CEO of a Swiss Venture Capital Company raising more then CHF 60 Mio. In spring 2002 he joined Innosuisse as Project leader Financial and Investor Support for Start-up Companies until fall of 2014. Since 2018 he is back at Innosuisse as Special Coach for Pitching and Financial Planning.

In addition, in 2003 he became Managing Director of Startup INVEST ( and is still in charge. The Startup DAYs (, organised by Startup INVEST, have become the most important Startup Event in Switzerland in the past years.

He has been teaching Entrepreneurship classes at the Venturelab program and at ETH Zurich for more than 15 years. In 2010 he also initiated the news channel Startupticker ( and is still Vice-Chairman. All these years he has been a passionate about Swiss Startups.
